I love to sing songs when I need to be lifted up. They speak to my heart. Our beautiful song, “Mended And Whole,” reminds us of what Jesus did on the cross to bear our sins in His own body to save us from sin. Oh, how great a salvation in Jesus! God planned His scheme of redemption through Jesus His Son from the beginning.
“Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered. 9 And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him.” (Heb. 5:8-9)
“Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, 11 inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories. 12 It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.” (1 Peter 1:10-12)
Through Jesus’ crucifixion, the scheme of God’s redemption was accomplished.
“For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written, ‘I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.’ 20 Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. 22 For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.’” (1 Cor. 1:18-24)
“He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth.” ( Isa. 53:7)
“For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. 22 He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. 23 When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.” (1 Peter 2:21-23)
- Christ’s precious blood brings redemption to us.
- We’re saved by Christ’s living Word, the Gospel, which is God’s power to save men, those who believe in the Gospel Message (Romans 1:16).
- This salvation must compel us to show our love toward others that is fervently pure (1 Pet. 1:22).
- Christ’s precious blood makes it possible for us to be redeemed.
“Knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.” (1 Peter 1:18-19)
CONCLUSION:
Jesus, our Lord and Savior endured everything to make redemption possible for us:
- He endured threats, slander, every thorn, every nail, and every tear to mend our souls and make them whole again.
- He was broken with anguished pain and suffering for us.
May we do everything we can through teaching and our godly influence to save souls. May we lead sinners to God and His kingdom of righteousness and thus set them free from the bondage of sin. Our Lor and Savior wants us to be soul winners, for He died for all. He wants to heal, mend and make whole the sin-sick soul. May we bring the lost to Christ our Savior that they His Grace may know.
